Whenever a building is sold in the City of Chicago a new water account number is generated roughly 10 days post closing, and all bills begin sending to the new owner.
As you Property Management company we will happily pay these bills on your behalf and deduct them from your owner statement.
When you receive your first statement it is always helpful to email Sakina Hayward at Sakina@eliterentalschicago.com, who oversees the water accounts to ensure that she has received the new account number and has added it to our online portal so that we may pay on your behalf.
Additionally, as some owners are more hands on, they prefer to send a copy of the statement or notify us when they receive a bill so that we can provide payment confirmation. If you would like payment confirmation or details on a payment, Sakina will be happy to provide that.
The City of Chicago's water website is quite dated and often has slow loading times and many glitches, it is our recommendation that you retain your statements received by mail for your records. There have been several instances where owners request past copies of their bills and we do not receive them in a timely manner, if at all, from the city.
If you do not wish to receive statements in the mail, please let Sakina know and she will opt out of them on your behalf. By notifying Sakina that you no longer wish to receive paper statements you are accepting the risk that we may not be able to pull a copy of the bill later should you want it.
